Where do you think Korea stands in terms of AI adoption and development? I think Korea is such an interesting case because the power of the Korean language, in terms of the number of speakers isn’t as strong compared to other Asian countries, but the country's influence in business standards is strong. Would be keen to know if you’re also open to discussing this!
Thanks for reading and for such a thoughtful question! I like to think of countries in AI through three lenses:
1) AI Developers - those pushing the frontier on foundational models and core research
2) AI Enablers - those building the infrastructure (data centers, chips, cloud) that make AI possible at scale
3) AI Shippers - those focusing on real-world deployment, practical tools, and early AI education
Korea doesn’t have the language-scale advantage like English or Mandarin-speaking markets, but it punches above its weight thanks to strong ICT infrastructure, leadership in semiconductors, a digitally native population, and a culture of rapid tech adoption.
That firmly puts Korea in the AI enabler and AI shipper categories. But there’s still room to grow, especially in globalizing its AI startups and expanding beyond domestic markets. More government support, stronger ties with international investors, and early investment in AI education will be key to making Korea not just a fast follower, but a global player.
hahaha i didnt get to use the chat function but saw the dashboard and interface that spits out text highlights and context analysis and was pretty impressed! Knows more Korean Gen Z slang than i do..
Thanks for sharing - sounds super interesting!
